Saving money and saving the environment seem to be on most everyones mind these days. The great thing is you can do both at the same time. There is an inexpensive way that you can get electricity from wind and you can do it all right at home.
Many people are becoming aware that they can use a wind turbine to capture the energy of the wind and convert it into electricity. More and more of these turbines are popping up in backyards all over the country.
Unless you have very deep pockets, and/or plan on staying in your house for 10 or more years, buying a turbine most likely wouldn't be the best way for you to go. They are expensive and it will take you a long time to recoup that investment.
It is a good idea, however, to build your own turbine. The technology has advanced to the point where turbines can be small enough to fit in your backyard yet still be able to generate enough electricity to cover around 60% of your household needs.
By building your own you get the best of both worlds: low initial cost (you therefore can recoup your money much more quickly, usually in a matter of months), and the ability to save upwards of 80% on your utility bills.
If you decide to build your own turbine there are three basic steps you need to take:
1. Buy a manual that will show you how to build it in easy step by step directions.
2. Purchase the parts you will need to assemble your turbine. These parts can be bought at your hardware store for around $200.
3. Set aside a day or two to assemble your turbine.
That's it. You're done. You now have a way to get electricity from wind and save a lot of money on your utility bills for years to come.

Is Wind Energy Right For You?
Even though we are all aware of the prospect of high energy bills all year long, it gets worse in the fall. The idea of having many months of high energy bills is enough to make anyone tense.
Because of advancements made over the last several years, we don't have to worry so much about our utility bills.
We now have the ability to use wind energy to help us provide much of the electricity we need for our homes, which will help us save a lot of money on utility bills all year long.
To convert the energy of wind into electricity the bigger the turbine the bigger the amount of electricity you can produce.
But since technology has made advancements in the conversion process, it is now possible to benefit substantially even from a turbine small enough to fit on your roof.
Before the cost of buying your own wind turbine, along with the fact that you wouldn't get much energy out of it, didn't make it a smart investment for most households.
Because we can get a 'bigger bang for our buck' with today's more advanced conversion techniques and since you can easily build your own, a wind turbine for home use has finally become feasible and advisable for many.
Of course you do need to make sure you live in an area where you have enough open space so the wind will be unobstructed from the turbine.
By building your own turbine you can save significantly not only on your utility bills, but also on the price of the turbine. So now it is possible to recoup your investment in just a few months.
Don't worry this winter, or at any time, about your energy bills. Let wind energy provide your home with the electricity it needs, all for no cost!

Wind Energy - The Best Option?
Even though many of us are concerned about energy bills all year long, it seems more of our focus comes in the fall when we are staring down the prospect of a long winter full of high utility bills.
We don't need to worry though, thanks in large part to advances in technology. We can now use wind energy to help us generate some of our own electricity, and save a bundle in the process.
It is true, when it comes to wind power, bigger is better. The bigger the wind turbine the more energy that can be produced. Up until recently it just didn't make much sense to use a small, home sized turbine.
The cost of the turbine was high and the amount of energy you could generate was too low to make it a worthwhile investment. But, happily, that isn't the case anymore.
Now we can produce as much as 60% of the energy our home needs with one turbine. Buying a turbine still doesn't make financial sense for many, but now you can easily build your own for less than $300.
Not only is it cheap to build a turbine, it's also easy. Virtually anyone can make a turbine by following a well laid out manual.
The materials you need can be purchased at any hardware or home improvement store. The whole project shouldn't take more than a few hours, a day at most.
When you consider the savings you can achieve with your own turbine, and couple that with the low start up cost a turbine just makes sense for many of us.
So instead of wringing your hands all winter and worrying about how you'll pay your bills, just let wind energy provide you with most of the energy you need...for free.

Wind Energy, Is It For Me?
If you're looking for ways to save money and would like the added bonus of being environmentally friendly, using wind energy might be just what you were looking for.
While it's true that many people will say that installing your own home wind turbine is a waste of money, the evidence seems to suggest that's a wrong assumption.
A homeowner can save, on average, up to 60% off of their utility bill by installing a wind turbine.
That's alot and can add up especially over the years.
If you're thinking that turbines are ugly, big, monstrosities, you might be pleasantly surprised to learn that they can come in different sizes and even different shapes. Some of them are even pretty and look like modern art sculptures!
The cost of a wind turbine can vary greatly depending on the size and whether you buy one or build one. Obviously, as with most things, if you hire someone to do it for you or you buy a pre-built turbine it will cost you more. Most turbines sell for anywhere between $600 all the way up to $10,000.
If you build your own, on the other hand, it will cost a few hundred dollars on average and take just a few days to build.
Either way, if you build your own or buy one, you may be eligible for a tax credit of up to 30% of the cost of the turbine. And with a projected utility savings of up to 60% you'll be able to recoup your investment fairly quickly.
It really doesn't matter which route you choose, build your own or buy one, either way it's a smart move to use wind energy to help you save money as well as be kind to the planet. It's the ultimate win/win.

Wind Energy and Whats The Big Deal
The other day I was looking out my window and I saw something that wasn't there the day before: two of my neighbors had installed their own wind turbines, one on a rood, and one in the yard. I had thought about using wind energy myself before that, but that really got me thinking.
I decided to do a little research on the subject, here's a little of what I found out:
I don't pretend to fully understand how it all works, but basically a wind turbine will convert the energy from the wind into electricity. That electricity can be used immediately or stored for later use in inexpensive batteries.
To build a small household wind turbine should only take a day or so and will cost a few hundred dollars. Most of the supplies can be bought right at my hardware store or online. There are manuals available that can walk me through the whole process with step by step directions.
One turbine won't generate enough electricity to completely run my home but it will generate enough to help me save quite a bit on my utility bill. Many people are saving around 80% off their electric costs.
If you have a lot of land you could build several, larger turbines and actually generate more electricity than you would need and then sell that electricity back to the utility companies. They would actually pay you for electricity!
Combining a wind turbine and some solar panels would really boost the amount of electricity you can generate all on your own.
The technology for storing and converting electricity is constantly improving and it won't be long until we can get even more electricity from our one wind turbine.
This is a little of what I've learned about using wind energy. I hope it helps you decide whether or not using the wind to save on your utility bill is the right option for you.

Wind Energy - Pros And Cons
Wind power, many people are enthusiastically jumping on the bandwagon and building their own wind turbines for their home. But is it worth it? Can they really save that much money? Yes, they can. And so can you.
Now I don't want to give the impression that this form of energy is the do all, end all to your electricity needs. While it is a fantastic way for the average home owner to cut their electric bill by up to 80%, you do have to keep a few points in mind.
First of all, you will likely need more than one turbine to generate enough electricity for your home. Of course that will depend on the size of the turbine you have, and your electricity needs. But generally speaking a homeowner will need several small turbines to generate enough electricity so they can kiss their utility company goodbye.
Another consideration is where you live. Everyplace gets wind but some places, say Chicago, get more. If you live in a location where you don't get a lot of wind, maybe you have a lot of trees, or you live in a valley, you won't get as much out of your turbine.
On the other hand, since a wind turbine can be built for a few hundred dollars and since many homeowners see a significant savings from just one turbine, it might still be worth your while to invest in this environmentally friendly, completely renewable, free energy source.
It can be a great family project to construct your very own wind turbine. The kids will learn to appreciate the environment as they grow up.
For anyone who is concerned about the environment, as well as their own financial health, utilizing wind energy can be a very cost effective way to help the planet and yourself.

Wind Energy - Is It Worth It? The Great Debate
Energy costs, like so many other things, continue to go up. This increase along with the desire to go green, has sparked renewed interest in using other forms of renewable energy. Many people are turning to wind energy as a way to lower their electric bills, but is it a viable option?
It really doesn't matter what topic you pick, there will always be some people who agree and some who disagree. And that's fine, as long as they discuss the facts and not just throw around their opinion and make it seem as though it's fact.
Using the wind to power turbines for home use is one such debate. There are many people on both sides of the issue, but you need to make up your own mind.
Here is a list of some of the pros and cons, you decide:
Pros
1. Building a turbine for your home is cheap and easy.
2. Using wind power is free.
3. Wind power doesn't pollute.
4. Wind power is renewable and efficient.
Cons
1. Wind power isn't a constant. You won't have wind every day.
2. The technology, while improved, still isn't 100% efficient at converting the wind into energy and storing it.
3. A lot of people aren't going to want to build their own turbines and buying one is very expensive.
For most people I think the pros probably outweigh the cons. For a small investment you can save quite a bit on your electric bill, but the decision has to be yours.
As you can see there are good arguments for and against using wind energy to supply your electricity needs. It's up to you to decide what is best for you, your home, and your lifestyle. I hope this list helps.
