Wind Energy, Is It For Me?

If you're looking for ways to save money and would like the added bonus of being environmentally friendly, using wind energy might be just what you were looking for.

While it's true that many people will say that installing your own home wind turbine is a waste of money, the evidence seems to suggest that's a wrong assumption.

A homeowner can save, on average, up to 60% off of their utility bill by installing a wind turbine.
That's alot and can add up especially over the years.

If you're thinking that turbines are ugly, big, monstrosities, you might be pleasantly surprised to learn that they can come in different sizes and even different shapes.  Some of them are even pretty and look like modern art sculptures!

The cost of a wind turbine can vary greatly depending on the size and whether you buy one or build one.  Obviously, as with most things, if you hire someone to do it for you or you buy a pre-built turbine it will cost you more.  Most turbines sell for anywhere between $600 all the way up to $10,000.

If you build your own, on the other hand, it will cost a few hundred dollars on average and take just a few days to build.

Either way, if you build your own or buy one, you may be eligible for a tax credit of up to 30% of the cost of the turbine.  And with a projected utility savings of up to 60% you'll be able to recoup your investment fairly quickly.

It really doesn't matter which route you choose, build your own or buy one, either way it's a smart move to use wind energy to help you save money as well as be kind to the planet.  It's the ultimate win/win.
