Energy Saving Tips

Many people would love to be able to 'go off the grid', or be able to generate enough electricity so they don't have to buy any from their utility company. Unfortunately few of us are in a position to do that.  That doesn't mean you can't save some money though.  Here are some easy energy saving tips you can start using today.

While going off the grid would be fantastic it isn't an all or nothing proposition. You can still cut back dramatically on your utility bill.  That will not only save you money it will also help save our dwindling resources.

If you're ready to take back control of your utility bills today, here are some easy to use tips you can start implementing right away and save yourself some serious cash.

1. When a light bulb burns out replace it with an energy efficient bulb.  This sounds simple, and it is, but it can help save you money.  You have to replace the bulb anyway, why not use an energy efficient one?

2. Clean all filters in your furnace and A.C. units.  When the airflow is restricted your unit works harder and that uses more electricity.

3.  Seal your house.  Whether you go big, replacing your windows, or small, using caulk to close in gaps, you can cut your utility bills significantly by preventing drafts.  This will also make your home more comfortable in the winter months.

You may have heard about many of these energy saving tips  before but didn't bother because you didn't think it would make much of a difference.  And the truth is, it won't.  At least it's not going to save you ten's of thousands of dollars a year.  But it could easily save you thousands of dollars a year, and isn't that worth a little extra effort?
